In fiscal 2015, Macy’s opened a new store in Ponce, PR, as well as six Macy’s Backstage freestanding stores. The company closed or consolidated 41 Macy’s stores in Irvine, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Walnut Creek, CA; Enfield, CT; Decatur, GA; Kailua, HI; Moscow, ID; Peoria, IL; Baton Rouge, LA; Owings Mills and Hagerstown, MD; Lanesborough and Springfield, MA; Columbia, MO; Bedford, NH; South Plainfield and West Orange, NJ; Buffalo, Horsehead, Kingston and Williamsville, NY; Cary, NC; Akron and Elyria, OH; Oklahoma City, OK; North Bend and Roseburg, OR; Ardmore, Pittsburgh and West Mifflin, PA; Ft. Worth, TX; Chesapeake, Glen Allen, Hampton, Norfolk, and Richmond, VA; and Spokane, WA.

Future new Macy’s stores are planned to open in Kapolei, HI, in 2016, in Los Angeles and Murray, UT, in 2017 and in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in 2018 under a license agreement with Al Tayer Group.
